Pixie Lott on Hayi's Mama Do (5/23/2012)

The latest up-to-date photo of Hayi:
She looks too thin, doesn't she?

  1. YAY finally an update on Hayi LOOOL

  2. Hayi's looking awesomely prettier.

    ReplyDelete
  3. That's true. Though I like how she looks very clean and clear skinned here, not sure if the thin is a good thing given she's so young. :|

She looks somewhat like SeoHyun. I actually liked it better when she was distinctively different than other people, people can identify her much better. God knows how long I spent trying to differentiate SNSD members from each other. Though now they are obvious to me, it was REALLY difficult earlier on. I can understand how people from other etchnicity would struggle!

  4. This might be a bit off topic but, is it just me or does Hayi seem to really like wearing those fitted, almost skin-tight short dresses...the ones that Parkbom wears all the time...For example..the dress she wore when she sang Killing me softly, and Love, and U go girl.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Wahyimo, at first they all looked the same even to my Korean-bred eye and it took me even harder and longer time to finally match Super Junior's names to their faces when they first debuted. LOL

Anonymous, I might be wrong but I think it's the SBS (during the K-pop Star) and the YGE (now) stylist's choices, not her own.

    ReplyDelete
  6. So they can't get a D.L. until they turn 18. Can their parents get away with taking them way out somewhere, and teach them the basics on some dirt or country road? Like we illegally do here in the states?...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  7. haha... I learned to drive in empty mall parking lots after dark. But most of the prize cars have so far ended up in the contestants' fathers' hands.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's actually funny giving cars as prizes in a show that are already targeted at the young /underage. I know it's just because of the sponsors but still... well at least they're not giving sojus :P

@Anonymous, i'm not surprised if she looks more and more like 2ne1 in terms of 'style', being in that environment. Especially since she raps well, YG will not let that slip away from their fingers.

  9. Kim Woosung just signed with the Polaris Entertainment that Kim Bumsoo and Ivy are also affiliated with.

  10. here is an update i saw about haYi on alkpop

"YG Entertainment revealed that they are officially beginning to prepare for the debut of SuPearls.

On June 15th, Yang Hyun Suk revealed to Star News, “We have already prepared a dorm for SuPearls as well as a separate practice room for the group…SuPearls will debut as soon as possible, and their first album will be released in September at the latest.”

He continued, “SuPearls already possess skills that have been acknowledged and have a lot of fans who miss them. This is why we decided on an early debut…It is planned that I will be in charge of the whole production process of SuPearls’ debut album.”

Currently, YG is putting all their effort to create a female vocal group like Big Mama, and is sparing no cost. As such, he will personally be involved in every detail for SuPearls’ debut.

Meanwhile, Lee Ha Yi is also reported to be preparing for a solo activities under YG Entertainment as well in addition to group activities.

    Source: Star News via Nate"

i want to ask u Onsemiro, how is the response of the public to this news like in korea?

honestly, international fans are currently spitting fire at the mention of supearls who are getting an insane amount of bashing on various news sites including Alkpop. Most are accusing them of being spoiled and YG showing too much favouritism towards them. a lot are also complaining about wanting to see the new "pretty" girls generation-like group that YG has been talking about instead of supearls.

some of the comments have been very vile especially those about how supearls are not pretty and will fail cuz all that matter in kpop market is good looks. i really really hope that the korean fans are more accepting to this news and are not acting in such childish manners as the international fans.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anonym @6:29PM, thanks for the update! I had no idea some international fans were spitting out such nonsense. I just checked the crowd responses to the news posted on the DAUM site and most of them are really favorable. They think YGE wants the SuPearls and Hayi to debut before the K-pop Star frenzy cools down. And no one's mentioning YGE's new girl group. I might be wrong but I think the Korean fans think the debut of the SuPearls is one thing and that of this pretty new girl group is another - no one's getting in each other's way. I think some of those int'l fans are a little too paranoid and/or very biased lookismists.

    ReplyDelete
  12. thank u for ur reply Onsemiro. it really calmed me. i should have come to you first with this news before reading those comments. i agree with you that the new girl group seems to be nothing like supearls and people should really think carefully before making weird accusations.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think it's only fair to mention that there are an abundance of international fans who are extremely excited for Hayi and Supearl's debut. I was on the allkpop page as well and, yes, there were some rude comments, but there were also many supportive comments. It's funny how as humans we hold on to the negative more than the positive. WE HAYI FANS HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There's a new Pixie Lott interview on Youtube in which she comments on Lee Hayi's and Cathy Young's "Mama Do" performance, saying that they were reeeeeaaally good.

  15. Thanks, Anonym @12:01PM, for the link. I just uploaded the video on this blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congratulations to both Hayi and Jimin. They're both extremely talented and worked very hard throughout the program. The result of their efforts is a lot of beautiful music for the rest of us to enjoy.

I hope they'll continue on their paths and have many, many years to create and perform songs that they love. I also hope that there will be good people watching out for them in the sometimes rough world of the entertainment business.

Personally, at their level of talent, I don't think it makes sense to attempt to rank one as the "winner" and the other as the "runner up." The competition angle added drama to the KPOPSTAR show, which translated into heightened audience interest.

But, now that the show is over, it's obvious that there was no loser. We win because we've become aware of two very beautiful new voices and doubly blessed because they each have their own unique style and personality. There's no redundancy.

Subjectively, I'm drawn more to Hayi's voice. I can tell that she's hugely creative and loves to see how she can use her talents to bring something new and beautiful out of each song she does. I hope that with all the training and coaching that she gets she will also be given lots of opportunities to apply her own creativity and musical sense. I think most of us Hayi fans really appreciate her individual style and creativity (not to be dismissive of the helpful tips and techniques that she can get from talented producers and peers).

  17. Anonym @12:48 AM, very well put! I couldn't have said it better myself!

  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-B1tPHVB-8&feature=g-all-u

Our little professional singer has thumb-print access to the YG building. I laughed, and said to myself, "if it doesn't open, me & the Hayi fan club will come and kick the door in!!!"...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  19. And our little professional singer looks really adorable as always, but wow! It looks like Jimin's lost a lot of weight already.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think it's because of a late growth spurt. I wondered when it was gonna happen. She may be working out, but they're simply growing up, right before out eyes.....im all mushy now...lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. I had go back to listen Mama Do again (again & again)don't know how many times. I am happy for her after I saw Pixie Lott's on youtube commented about her. How soon is her alum?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yoon Hyun Sang & IU singing a duet might be pretty good, now that he's an official artist under their label.

    ReplyDelete
  23. kpopantz, thanks for the update. I just found out LOEN chose Yoon on IU's recommendation.

  24. There's a cute youtube video by Kathy Young and Deana Chen.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20H1AEyt1W0

Kathy mentions that she misses Hayi and thinks that Hayi is adorable.

  25. Anonym @1:58AM, Thanks for the link! Your comment has been held in the spam box and was just released. :)

  26. I understand that Lydia Paek previously worked with Park Bom on "Don't Cry". I so approve of her being one of Hayi's mentors', & vocal coaches. She amazing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lydia is so talented and all my family loves QUEST CREW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi. I'm not familiar with Lydia. Does it mean hayi's going the hip hop way. I'm not sure how i feel about her doing Hip Hop instead of Soul...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wahyimo, Lydia is a member of Quest Crew and also works for YGE as a song-writer and producer. She co-wrote and co-produced 2NE1's Ugly and Park Bom's Don't Cry with Teddy. Here's her profile on QC website written about 3 years ago when she was 19: http://questcrew.com/lydia-paek

And here's a Youtube link where you can see her singing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lZI--1C7Mw (at age 19)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=danW7CtI_J0 (at age 20)

I think YGE producers can help Hayi become a very groovy soul singer.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks for those links. She sounds great. Why isn't YG debuting her as an artist though?

I guess I'm just not too hyped about Hayi in hip hop doing raps and everything, though I know she'll do good in it. Seeing as she's shown some potential at rapping, I am quite sure YG won't let that get away from his hands.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wahyimo, as far as I know, as an artist, she recently got signed with Nu-Lite Entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Like with se7en, I hope that JYP will write a song for Hayi to sing in the future. As much as i love YG, I think JYP knows how to bring out the best in Hayi.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i think we may expect a song from JYP sung by Hayi once she releases her solo album. hes always made it clear that the tone of her voice is his favourite amongst all contestants on the show, and considering the success of SE7EN's single with him, im sure he wont let this chance slip from b/w his fingers

    ReplyDelete
  34. Onsemiro, just wanted to get a small, very small synopsis(summary), on a couple of those articles on the DAUM website about the kpopstar kids(Hayi & Jimin). I believe it's just some random stuff about dieting, but nothing about the next singing event.

    ReplyDelete
  35. kpopantz, it's not even about their dieting but about how their looks and appearances have been upgraded. They said the K-pop Star contestants-turned-trainees of major agencies already look so awesome just like other idol stars.

BTW, I just uploaded Hayi's latest photo.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lesson learned, message received.... Was on soompi.com, saw some comments about season 2, believed it was about dieting. Hayi's Photo - Adorable, yet slightly troubling. Yes...i agree that she's too thin. Ok, yes, she's has to have discipline to achieve the idol look, but when is not enough, too much? She also looked malnourished, when she was in that 4 person singing exercise, when they sang Gummy's song. Boa said she lost weight, but she looked jumpy, and uncomfortable, but still sang well. I hope she can still enjoy the moment, while managing the stress of her future schedule. HAYI FIGHTING!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well.... on second thought, maybe it was kinda about dieting as there was a line "It seems like they've lost weight; they look slim."

    ReplyDelete
  38. Just saw Park Ji Min's selca at akp. http://www.allkpop.com/2012/07/k-pop-stars-park-ji-min-uploads-a-feminine-mature-selca

Looking more and more difficult to differentiate with your average idol :|

    ReplyDelete
  39. And it bothers me when the news stories about their looks/appearances are all that's available and all we can buzz about lately. Hope you understand what I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  40. So JYP says PJM will not be debuting as an idol. What does really mean? What's the definitive difference between a singing idol and a singer? Does he mean she won't be taking CFs, etc? Or is he just stressing that PJM has quality that his idols don't? What is he saying about his groups then?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think JYP was talking about the genre of music PJM is going to do. I may be wrong but PJM is not going to do the kind of music that is internationally known as "K-pop." He also said he couldn't definitely say no to the possibility that she would probably debut as a group.

    http://media.daum.net/entertain/enews/view?newsid=20120705145717818

    ReplyDelete
  42. yes but i heard that he was hinting of having PJM debut at the same time as SuPearls to set them against one another. is this true??

if it is then i seriously will loose any ounce of respect i had for this man! yes the two did come from the same show but he needs to let it go now!

im wondering if hes bitter that HaYi didn't end up choosing his label, and now hes trying to put her and her group against PJM to prove how much better he is as a mentor. ok so maybe im just blabbing but still! dude i don't want to see the two against one another so soon!

they are already going to be compared even if they dont go against one another but at least it wont be in the same extent. let each carve their own place in the industry and build their own success without having to go at each others' throats

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well.... I think it's anything but intentional. There are reports that today YG, JYP, and BoA gathered together for a photo shoot for the K-pop Star (KPS) season 2 posters.

    http://i2.media.daumcdn.net/photo-media/201207/05/bntnews/20120705201105707.jpg

JYP said PJM would debut before the KPS season 2 preliminaries start in mid September. Honestly, if I were him, I would have no other choice but to let PJM debut before the season 2 begins. He shouldn't wait unless he wants her to be forgotten. For there will be the next PJM or Lee Hayi who will capture the audience's ears, eyes, and hearts just like they did. And that's why YG also wants to make Hayi and other SuPearls members debut before the second season. It's all just natural and/or coincidental, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  44. i agree with you that they both should debut before season 2 starts but i just wish they wouldnt have to debut at the same time and cause them to go against one another. imo at least a month or so b/w them would be much better for the sake of both artists and their success.

    ReplyDelete
  45. http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/10243/20120709/k-pop-star-winner-park-ji-min-to-debut-overseas-first.htm

    ReplyDelete
  46. And Ah Yeon duetting with Lim Jae Bum..
I think all my hopes for Hayi's path were taken by the other contestants! Going overseas, duet with great figures of Korean and international singer, aww come on YG. Step it up and give us some good news!

    ReplyDelete
  47. i guess JYP will never give up his quest of trying to break into the US market.

hes a great mentor and a fab song writer but man hes terrible at promoting his artists.

appearing on Oprah and the view may seem like a big deal but it certainly wasn't big enough to get Charice the fame and success she deserves despite having a stellar cast of songwriters producing her album. it also didnt really do much for many talented young singers including Connie talbot.

Jimin's cover of rolling in the deep was fantastic but it actually did NOT become a global phenomenon the way susan boyle's audition became after it aired and famous singers tweeted about it, or the way that chinese man's audition of whitney houston's songs shocked the world. despite having the Jimin's audition promoted on CNN, the vid only gathered a little over 2 million views in total which means that it didn't generate as much interest as one might have expected.

in either case, i wish the girl all the best for the amazing talent she has, but i wouldn't take JYP's words too seriously about turning her into an international phenomenon like he clearly wants her to become. the girl is still too young and inexperienced for US debut. JYP is clearly trying to rush it all out in hope that he will finally break into the US. unfortunately, i don't think Jimin is ready for such thing.

sometimes its best not to rush and take it slow. imo he should have her debut in korea first with a decent korean album and have her perform live to gain more experience. then once shes ready to stand on her own feet, he can send her off to america with a successful album to boast about instead of just a cover of a famous song

    ReplyDelete
  48. Frankly, Jimin's decision to go with JYP was the most unexpected/surprising to me, but now I think I know why. Maybe, she chose to work with him because he promised her a US debut already. In other words, maybe, that's what both of them wanted - they were harboring the same ambitions. And that's what made them click with each other.

    ReplyDelete
  49. BTW, JYP said Jimin is currently working on singing "unpretentiously," that is, with more natural voice and more natural facial expressions. He said, "Such flaws can be fixed overnight (which means they are easy to overcome). She's been receiving offers to appear on the US shows and English is more convenient for her to sing (than Korean)."

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think it makes sense for her to debut in "English" countries, because she is comfortable with the language, and she has a tiny bit of exposure and was offered more. It would be silly not to take these opportunities.

Taking it slow is good for Hayi because she is so much more unpolished.

I think Charice is not as successful because she hasn't got her own song. She is a powerhouse but I am not attracted to her. I would actually prefer Jimin with all her flaws. No offense to Charice's fans out here.

Just like how many artists struggled at first to go to Japan, they will struggle in US. But this is just a step they have to take.
I'm not overly optimistic about the debut but a plan is better than no plan.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Couldn't agree with you more, Wahyimo!

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Wahyimo

i agree with you. but just to clarify Charice does have her own song and albums. her cover of whitney's songs as well as Celine Dion's gave her enough international exposure that she appeared on major US shows including Ellen and Oprah.

Oprah was so impressed with her that she actually arranged for her to sign up with Warner under the mentoring of David Foster himself (multi-grammy award wining producer and songwriter, also the man behind Celine Dion's success as well as Michael Buble's. he also wrote and produced hit songs for whitney, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Toni Braxton, and Michael Jackson to name a few. he is well known as the "hit maker")

charice had the best and most highly qualified songwriters and producers working on her last two albums. most were grammy award winners with incredible credentials.

yet despite all that and the amazing promo she had by appearing multiple times on Oprah and Ellen, and duetting with Celine dion and performing at the Oscar After Parties she still fails to make an impact.

im not saying that Jimin can't make it; i actually do think she CAN make it. The problem is that JYP has constantly failed to secure a decent american debut for his artists. i mean compare SNSD and Wonder girls. The WG spent years promoting in America and supporting the jonas brothers, yet they still failed to get half of the recognition there that SNSD got after only two major performances SNSD did on US TV.

right now pple see WG as failures while SNSD is seen as a huge international pop group. the reason is becuz SM took its time with SNSD. they knew that before they threw SNSD all the way to the US, it was impo for SNSD to gather a strong and powerful fanbase.

as horrible as it may sound the US music industry and media won't bother pay attention to asian singers no matter how talented they are UNLESS they are "forced" to do so. (you only need to look at all the super talented asian singers that have appeared on AI in the previous years to see this.)

and the only way to "force" the industry to do so, is by making sure that the asian artist/group you are trying to break into the US market has a massive fanbase that is willing to stand up against the prejudice media, radio DJs, and TV producers showcase to asian singers.

the singer in that case won't have to depend on radio stations and tv for promo, becuz the fans will make sure that every single internet blog and social website out there is utilized properly to promote their fav singer(s).

the power of the internet alone can push incredibly strong and tight boundaries. One Direction conquered the whole world thanks to their international fans utilizing social networks to promote their music.

Jimin will not impress the US with her voice alone. the best producers and songwriters with the catchiest songs won't care about her being able to sing. they will give their songs to the singer they know will make a LOT of money. Jimin is unknown and has not shown that she is a force to be reckoned with. we already have very talented singers out there like Beyonce and Adele. a powerful fanbase and a successful Asian debut particularly in Japan (US's #1 rival and the world's second largest music industry) will make those critics in the US sit up and take note of her.

  53. It's so brutal, and unforgiving, here in the states. Even our so called children's programs, are so hardcore now. Dance recitals, and toddler beauty pageants have our mothers on the verge of engaging in M.M.A. bouts with other fire-breathing moms. Is it really fair to PJM's career to allow her to debut at her current level? JYP, needs to pump the brakes. There's one blogger, i read somewhere, who thinks PJM is close to hitting her ceiling. I just wanna know how long Hayi will be a SuPearl?

  54. For anyone interested: Yim Jae Bum - Baek Ah Yeon - Pursuit of happiness?
    http://www.nhaccuatui.com/nghe?M=mtrYwCnpZum5

I can't find it in youtube, so there.

The song's awrite, nothing to write home about.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks for the link, Wahyimo. Yim Jaebeom recently revealed he hadn't personally met Baek Ayeon yet as they recorded the song separately. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, I see. I kinda feel it was a bit out of balance between parts. The parts where they both sang Ah Yeon's voice was completely overwhelmed and in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The thing is, when he sang ”Scars Deeper Than Love” with Park Junghyun (aka Lena Park) in 2000, they recorded the song separately too. (Actually, the song was Park's remake of Yim's 1997 solo hit.) She said when she saw him for the first time right before their live stage together, she was she was literally frozen with fear. haha.

BTW, Yim said the songwriter Kim Hyungseok recommended Baek Ayeon to him for the duet.

  59. Thanks for the link! Just learned that Kim Yuna will skate to "El Tango de Roxanne" for the first time in 5 years. She said the number means a lot to her and her fans so she chose to reintroduce it as a symbol of starting over. Great!

  60. about Hayi's performance on the Skate Show, i was looking through the program on the main sit e

    http://allthatskate.com/2012Spring/eng/introduce/about.php

and it said that the show will run for 3 days, but the program doesn't show which day Hayi will perform.

does this mean that Hayi and Jimin will perform 3 times, and will repeat their songs on each of the show days?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonym @11:28 PM, yes, they will perform for 3 days: Hayi will open the second half of each show with Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl" and Jimin will sing "Over the Rainbow" right before the finale. And they will duet on Rihanna's "We Found Love" for the curtain call.

    ReplyDelete
  62. oh ok thanx :)

hope fans will upload her performances from today :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh, I completely forgot the show starts today. Thank you for reminding me!
