| Lee Hayi beams a smile as walking on stage at the Big-Five Concert for the 2012 Yeosu EXPO-Korea |
As follows are the translated excerpts from the Oh My Star article (5/26/2012).
People started screaming as they saw the SuPearls get off the van. The reporter said he didn't expect to witness such soaring popularity of them. Today, Park Jimin, not Lee Hayi, performed as one of them, and they sang SNSD's "The Boys" and "Fame," the songs they had performed on K-pop Star. Then Hayi came next to sing "Love" and "U-Go-Girl," which she had performed on K-pop Star as well. There was something fresh and green about her singing, which we couldn't see from her performances on TV.

This is kind of off topic, but I found videos of Ledisi performing at that Korean festival thing, but I cannot find any video of Ledisi singing with Lee Hayi. Do you think their collaboration got cancelled?
That's what I've been speculating as there's been no news or no video clip on Youtube. What a shame.
COOL! :P
I love the YHS news! Thanks.
I can see Hayi has improved in some ways actually from these videos.
But her rythm in the beginning of U Go Girl sounded a bit off to me.
They're still going Su Pearls with Ji Min when they've put out news that YG's going to replace her. WT?! So Hayi's going to just be a replacement when Ji Min can't be around?
Wahyimo, I think it was Jimin's swan song as a member of the SuPearls. Who knows? YGE might change the name too. :)
Aside from the kpopstar experience, these extra singing engagements are doing wonders for her confidence, and level of comfort. I don't know about anyone else, i actually enjoyed her singing "Foolish Love" by Kim Dong Wook. It may not have been her best, but i wouldn't mind hearing/seeing it again, at one her next live events. While i prefer the rawness of the voice, the studio version of this is amazing!
Yes, each of the live and studio versions have their own pros and cons.
There was an episode on Kpopstar where the contestants were put into groups, and were told to sing individually, and then the judges ranked them by best to worst. Does anyone know why Hayi was not in that episode?
If I remember correctly, Hayi sang teamed up with other(s)twice: First she sang Gummy's "Immature Adult" in a group of four and second Pixie Lott's 'Mama Do" in duet with Cathy Young.
@Anonymous: Yes, there wasn't any cut for Hayi on that stage of the audition. Not sure why, just editing stuff I suppose. They can't show everyone's cut so they just selected a few, i hope they will release the clip someday though!
@Onsemiro: The one Anonymous was asking was the one she was supposed to sing Rehab/Life's good?
Park Jungeun is reportedly going to Andy's Shinhwa Entertainment.
Kim Na Yoon getting a deal, or contacted before Son Mi Jin is wrong on so many levels. Yet i understand...
ITA, kpopantz.
They should do another round for these signed ones in 1 year and see who improves the most
Brilliant idea, haha!!
Kim Nayoon has her "moments." Her first audition was so good. I'm not saying that she sings the best, but there was a laid-back and effortlessness in her during that performance that left me thinking "this girl has potential to be amazing"
thanx onsemiro for all the updates. one question if you don't mind, how do you perceive korean fans' reaction to the news of HaYi being part of Supearls? do they seem happy or angry about it? I worry a lot about this because despite the wonderful talent all 4 members displayed previously, JiMin was definitely the star of that group and the reason many people were taken with it. most international fans i came across seem upset with this new twist and think YG should just let HaYi debute solo, or at least change the name of the group. do Korean fans say the same thing?
The reaction to the news given by most Korean music fans was very positive. They praised YG's ability as a producer. They say he's a discriminating shopper with awesome planning ability.
And remember, YG said Hayi would sing solo as well as in the SuPearls. I think it's a clever strategy. YG said he wanted to make the group debut asap, which means the girls don't have much time to level up as finesse singers. But they don't need to worry too much as they will complement one another while singing together. Besides, Hayi can polish more on her singing and boost her confidence on stage while working in a group before she puts out her solo album.
Ok, Wahyimo, so you were right. It's already starting to fade, but was expected, especially now that she's focusing on her training @ the S.P.A..Im still hanging on, but man it's too quiet in here!...Anyway, Onsemiro, im still enjoying the food blogs, while absorbing as much culture as i can. I was reading an article that states that S.Korea handles most of the work done on American and Japanese animation companies. What i don't know is, if it's the artwork, subbing, or distribution, maybe they do it all?
Hayi must be training really hard right now - Koreans call it Jeong Jung Dong which translates to "in motion amidst rest."
A/b animation, it's the artwork only. In other words, Korean cartoon artists are subcontractors. :)
I have another bad idea/hunch.
Do you think it's possible that they will hold off debuting Hayi out of respect for Ji Min? (Until Ji Min debuts, Hayi won't?)
What usually happens with other audition shows ? Does the 1st prize winner always debut first?
Wahyimo, I think it totally depends on the agencies they signed with. If YGE wants to have the SuPearls & also Hayi as a solo debut asap, then they will. Actually, Oolala Session, the winner of the 2011 Super Star K, made a debut later than Busker Busker, the first runner-up. On the other hand, Kang Seungyoon, who placed 4th in the 2010 Super Star K and signed with YGE is yet to debut as a singer.
That's good news Onsemiro, I love to be proven wrong :). Life is kind of boring with no Hayi news.
My favorite contestant in The Voice Australia has been cut yesterday. I don't really follow the show much, but when I saw her performance last week I think she's sooo great. So I think i have the same jinx too!
If any of you're curious, here's a video of my favorite performance from her.

The video quality is so bad eventhough it's from the official site tsk tsk.
Wahyimo, the video is not allowed to be viewed in my region. I think I'll look around on Youtube.
It's rather hard to find it
